This is the size I originally planned on using, I'm just having a very difficult time mounting them on a 4" wide wheel. _________________ '73 Thing-ish |

A shop should be able to do it. Or try this:

If you really have to have a 2.5" tire, go with a 125/50-15 |

I never understand those dumb asses that stretch a 4" tire on an 8" rim. It looks retarded, and can't be safe to drive.... |

If I could get the tire on the wheel I could use ether or a ratchet strap to bead it, I just can't get the tire on. Even with a tire machine. _________________ '73 Thing-ish |

Do allow your front end to settle down about 1 to 2 in. when all weight is on and you drive a few miles and the new parts settle in. How much travel will you have for bonce? |

I had 165/45's on my thing at first and it ws a pain trying to find somewhere to mount them, finally Tire Discounters popped them on mins. The guy didn't back down, he just went full on and it popped on. I taco'd my rim w those rubber band tires so I switched to 165/50's and pleased! |

Did a bit of work this past weekend. I decided to use the Appliance Pacer wheels that came on the car when I purchased it instead of the smoothies I bought. I was originally hesitant to use them because they were rough, and I only had three of them. To my surprise, they cleaned up very well, and I easily found a fourth.
I went to my local Dollar General and bought every single 2-liter of off-brand Coke they had and dumped it in a plastic bin along with some wheel acid and anything in the garage that claimed to remove rust. With a lot of soaking and a little scrubbing, I was satisfied. My roommate decided to get in on the fun and clean up his Type 3 bumpers with our rust juice as well.
Then, the moment I'd been waiting for for what feels like forever: the engine was mounted.
My ignition switch is on the way, as well as tires for the new wheels. Hopefully this time next week I've got a running engine and a car with all four feet on the ground. _________________ '73 Thing-ish |

So what did you end up doing for the suspension height?
Ya just gonna drag tires on the fenders, or did ya adjust something? |
Just gonna drag tires. Sucks to roll hard. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ _________________ '73 Thing-ish |

After taking a mental and financial break over the winter, I've made some progress in the last couple weeks.
Put the car up in the air to get some work done. Cleaned out the fuel line, finally got the throttle cable to stop sticking, and other miscellaneous things.
Got the motor running.
Slapped the wheels back on and pulled it out of the garage under its own power for the very first time.
Then pulled it back in to the other side of the garage. Feeling very satisfied with the work that's gone into this. That very short drive has been a long time coming.

I've had a good couple weeks driving around, getting some miles on the engine before show season starts. It's had a couple small hiccups here and there, but for the most part, he's treating me pretty well.
First trip out of the neighborhood to fill up the tank.
I was so excited that the car was finally road worthy, I really didn't care that it was below freezing.
But thanks to TN's bipolar weather, we've had some sunny and warm days, too.
And I'll add in a little fun with friends for flavor.
