Ok i will add in some pictures once i get a chance. But i figure i should start a build sheet so I can keep track of everything.
So far since purchasing the car for $3200 in Burton, MI
I have done the following to it.
1. 2 wheel cylinders
2. dual 36 carbs
3. 4 new 31/10.5/15 BFGoodrich Mud Terrain T/A KM2's
4. chevy bolt pattern rear brake drums from appletree auto. that I drilled the metric threads out of to use with my cragar centerline wheels
5. 20 gallon fuel cell that is mounted in the somewhat stock location (lots of cutting and welding) fits under the hood quite nicely I am able to fit aobut 18 gallons in it even with the angle that it is on.
6.new front bumber with two massive toe hooks fully welded together and made sturdier than the previous bumper.
7.fixed a lot of crappy welds due to the previous owner knowing how to spatter weld. (all too well)
8. broken about 8 studs on my wheels (the reason for getting the new brake drums in the rear
9. taken it out on a trip with graveshaker and orangecrusher by my house. (great trip but came back needing a new starter)
10. i believe that is all for now

does anyone want my motor complete as a turnkey? included would be dual 36 carbs, original bocar 34/pict 3 carb. everything! runs great not quite sure exactly what displacement i am running but it is definitely meaner than the stock type aj dual port 1600. no problem spinning the tires (31/10.5" bfgoodrich mud terrain t/a km2's) I have a new motor that I can get setup and installed for $1800 I am looking to get close to that for my whole motor turn key. it runs great with no issues no overheating, idles smoothly. can also include an extra 1600 block that can be used for parts or easily can be turned into another ready to go motor. so Two 1600 engines, 1 ready to go and as easy to hook up as 4 bolts, throttle cable, ignition wire, and fuel lines. shoot me a pm if you are interested. also have a load of extra parts to offer if you are interested just need to get my finances around for the switch to the new engine. dont be afraid to offer it isnt often a deal like this comes around for under $2k as i had previously been trying to find a solid used engine to have as an extra. priced to sell is currently installed in my baja so you can see it run and drive it I will pull it for you while you sit back and enjoy a cold beverage and listen to music if you would like shoot me a pm willing to part out the seperate block just tell me what you are looking for. new lcutch will be included on the turnkey motor. |

ok I have named my baja! after my grandma who passed away earlier this year.
considering it is an old car, looks less capable than it is, but creates endless joy seems like a perfect name.
now if only it could bake cookies, pies, cakes, and all that other yummy stuff for me.
next thing on the list for maxine.. teach my baja how to knit a quilt. stay tuned for the outcome. |

Sorry for your loss. I like the name, she sounds like she was a great grandma! BTW, nice looking Baja. |

ok I now have Maxine back at home! have been able to take two short trips down the driveway. the neighbors i am sure love me as it is insanely loud with no muffler.
ok and on to the better parts. them horsepowers.....
first and second gear consist of head in the back of the seat insane increase in speed. destroys my camaro. have not been able to hit third gear yet as my road is 25mph speed limit and i already have hit 45 in maxine....
dont tell the neighbors.
still working on hooking up the electric fan, buttoning up the rear end with sheet metal. and hooking up the altenator. but in the mean time. absolutely insane. mind blowing. acceleration. so much fun. and the 9-10K RPM red line is rather fun as well. will post some pictures in a second. this christmas hopefully will entail a go-pro camera. |

Not much of an update but was late to class today as my grandpa had come over to my house when i went home to grab stuff to head to class. spent about 30 minutes messing with fuel air flow on my carb and planning some ideas of what he thinks would be cool for my exhaust. As I said not much of an update more of a cool time with my grandpa post. Cannot wait to take him for a ride in it once i get it all set to go again! |
