ok the verdict is 5 bent valves and 1 cracked piston apparently he is trying to track down a piston for it. (which brings unease to me... since it sounded like it may be a used piston..)

Fives bent valves and one cracked piston? So if there is one piston that is cracked, what about the other pistons that bent up the other valves? Sounds fishy to me. I'm pretty sure any piston would be traumatized after smacking a valve weather it cracked or not. You may want to ask the builder about that one. I would be suspicious of a piston that did a whack job on a valve, even if it isn't cracked.

It does happen though.
This is a motor I rebuilt several times until I pulled my head out of my ass.

I should add I still wouldn't and didn't reuse those pistons though.

I know I don't have all the facts straight in your case, bud, but I think I would be demanding more than just this guys time. You paid for a turn key motor setup.... You're a nice guy, I hate to think someone might be taking advantage of your good nature. Just sayin

Yes I was leaning towards that especially with titanium valves hitting an Aluminum Piston. Forged aluminum but still aluminum.

And I know I am being taken advantage of at this point. but I also do not have much leverage to work with as he has my car. nothing is in writing that he has told me. and he did state that there is no warranty. (but I did figure that was with in reason) Idk we will see how much he is planning on charging me then I will have some leverage when I Have my car safely at home.

alright I will have it back this sunday. and will have him fully paid off and will have the full build book and my bill of sale for what all I paid for. at which point I will not be letting anyone touch my cars again. until I am too decrepid to lift a wrench.

Will get some better pictures to everyone once i get it back. depending on how it all looks when I get it back I may be tearing the whole thing back down and going through it myself. Will be making a full timing belt cover that is sealed off from everything external and sits back off of the belts some more to give it clearance. along with closing up the interior

I just picked up a bead roller and I got some beefing up to do on it and fabbing a stand soon but when I'm done your welcome to come over and use it to help make that cover if you want.

that would be great! I am basically covering the back of the car up again in the rear just making a slightly extended and raised rear deck but it is going to be a chore to get it lined up nicely along the body panels. then i have to cut a holt and run a remote fill for my fuel cell.

Did you move the fuel cell or is it still in front?

huh I guess I did not Post the pics of the Interior The fuel cell is mounted behind my seats with the radiator behind it with about 6 Inches of gap between the two. I will get some pics to post up this sunday when i get it back home. give a couple of days for my rage state to settle from the whole situation. it really is nice work as far as how everything is mounted and the rear hoop he made for the suspension and everything is great along with the quality of the work. only dissapointment is the product i went in to this deal for.

hmm well I went and Brought Maxine home yesterday with my dad. absolutely thrilled to be done with letting people touch her.... at least for the next oh until I am dead. Maxine sounds healthier than ever before. almost sounds like she is actually running on all four cylinders now (sounded like one of our polaris xlt 600 triples) I will be picking up 10 gallons of 110 after work today and seeing if I can get the fuel mixture figured out a bit (110 to 93 octane) hopefully will fall about 1:4 110:93

if not will be trying to double the headgasket which if that does not work will be going for getting the pistons shaved a couple of decimal places off. probably .0250000000000000" off of them may as well keep the whole spending way too much on things going and pay for a bunch of unneeded decimal places. Razz

on a more serious note. had a great drive to freeland with my dad to pick up Maxine. Tell me when you are ready OC and I will come over and we can play with your bead roller And I will bring you a Cold one. choice of brew is on you. (letting you choose since I do not drink so have no clue what is a better choice)

need to grab another 4'x8' sheet of 16 guage before I head down there to the land of the hollanders though Because 1 is not going to be quite enough. and for $62 a pop might as well have some laying around.

Thank you for listening on on Maxines Morning Boring Baja News.. This is Nathan have a great day. (Man is it too early to be at work)

Man, I can't wait to head down to the land of Hollanders, as you call it. Exam week is gonna be ugly this semester. My brain is fried, I've got a wicked case of senioritis, and I really could use a three week vacation.

glad to hear things are on the up now. I'm in the middle of a little rewire of the computer on my woods buggy at the moment, but hopefully soon I''l be making that stand of the BR. Kinda wishing I could motorize it, but time is a premium lately.
What are you thinking for a cover?

nothing too fancy. just want to not get wet when it rains.

looking at the "old" pistons that he gave me that were supposedly inside of my engine. they were not what i had inside of it when it went boom. these things have been sitting in the garage for several years to have the grime that they have on them. and the corrosion.

well I Can tell you all a few things to help you experience this new engine with me.

1. Holy Moly.. I Can definitely pin my head through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. 4th is a bit high. I may need to lower the gear ratio Down Some with this new engine.

2. The Police are going to love me. because loud pipes on cars save the cops jobs.

3. $153 later and I have a full tank of 110. so compression shall definitely be lowered by dishing the pistons (good thing I have machinists that are so keen to do this kind of work for free)

4. Grinning from ear to ear. I was Cam Lobing all the way through town. it does not like going 25 in second gear at all. but there was no way I was going to let it scream in 1st gear at 6.5K RPM all the way through town. (despite how much I want to Hear those Engine Noises I am a bit gun shy still after the last incident.

Ok fixed a lot of the issues. Had a small air leak on the intake, bumped the timing up a bit. Runs like a champ now. Also did a compression test just shy of 250 PSI on each cylinder. O_O double checked it even with a second compression gauge.... deginitely have a ways to go to get down to premium fuel.and I am going outside right now for your pictures OC

250 or 150PSI? Shocked

I'm glad you got her running like a champ though! That is great news, especially after all the drama you had leading up to it.

And I did get the pictures taken last night just would not upload on my internet for some reason. so I will try to get them uploaded over the course of today.
