Wow. That's close to ten months. And, by the time the work is done, it will be very close to a year; if my experiences with body work hold true.

I hope you're being compensated for a Summer camping season without access to your van.

In the end, it's way better than some outcomes. High hopes and all that.

Chuey

PS, when you get it back, check out the San Diego meet-ups and come down and show it off and meet some nice people. That's an invite!

Should be out of paint within a week and the engine should be back in shortly thereafter!

Having been there, and gone through that, I can only say--looking gorgeous, you found a good shop, and... Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Very Happy

For anyone wondering, this is the shop:

http://thewestsidegroup.com/Live/

They also did my 280Z, which was down to bare metal and had a full color change.

Glad to see the progress. I second Chuey's invite. Bring the new ride down to the San Diego GTG so we can all drool over it.

The shop "accidentally" painted the top body color, but didn't know I was thinking of going that direction, anyway. I'm happy with it!

I love it! The top color is very nice too.

They put the mirrors on the wrong sides of the van. Wink

Looks great! So clean!

I know I don't have to say it but I will anyways... please don't park it in the street again.

Can't count the number of vans that have been hit and or backed into by their neighbor because it was parked in the street. sad.

Same thing happened to me, only, your van is way nicer, and they left information on yours. Mine was a straight hit and run Sad Definitely jealous of how good it looks now!!

I hear you. I never planned to park it that way, but it blew out a fuel line while we had guests in town, so I planned to leave it for a day or two and then get under there to fix it. Sadly, it got hit after one day!

Needless to say, all fuel lines and injector seals are new now, too, and the firewall pass-through has been replaced with the metal one.

Looks great! I unfortunately had the same thing, but it was a tree which crapped all over my Doka, still to this day the tree refuses to pay up.

So why the salvage title and how did they fix the rear, pull and fill or cut and replace?

I like the color.

If I had just had that much body and paint work done, it would kill me to look at that rear cargo area around the hatch cover with all those scratches. Is there any paint left over? I know we all have budget limitations that make us choose when and where to draw the line, but man, just a little more paint... Maybe you're waiting to get the engine up and running before painting that area so it won't get scratched during the installation. Otherwise, it looks great! glad you're getting her back together.

It's done, but I haven't seen it in person yet. Hopefully, I'll pick it up this weekend.

Salvage title just means the value vs. the repair cost. I fought it, but even the insurance commisioner for the State of CA said there wasn't anything I could do.

Duly noted on engine compartment, but it'll be under the mattress and/or cargo all the time, anyway. Beyond fixing the accident damage, my focus was addressing minor rust issues. So, this started as a functional refurbishment that just happened to end up a full repaint. Smile I hope not to treat is as too nice to drive - my 2.25-year old daughter is about the right age to start going on camping trips, after all...

That looks so much better with the window frame painted. The only thing that bugs me on my van.
