I popped the roof dents out this morning. The roof had one dent on each side of the fresh air vent but one good punch per dent with the side of my fist got them out cleanly. Then I stood under the rear most roof support brace, and pushed up until most of the roof popped out, looks way better. Very Happy

Looking at the Google st view, I can see why one could miss seeing the roof of the bus from a low vehicle.
Had to of been something heavy to bend the roof-bow like that.

That was the culprit, the "kid" is now a 60 year old man. He still lives at home and when the bus was first parked there,he jumped on it. Rolling Eyes

Why, although that description does resemble me (except I'm only 59, at least until Labor Day) I have absolutely no recollection of the alleged roof bouncing ever happening. At least on YOUR bus.

Thanks everyone for enjoying this thread, I am so excited to have this old gal. Very Happy So today I went back to the house and did a ton of searching for the rear bumper and apron to no avail. But while I was digging around the seller came to the window and I asked her if she had any old pics of the bus. Well we found 3 of them and here they are. Notice the tail lights, he had already installed them by the time the bus was taken to Mexico. I also now know they bought the bus in 1966 and didn't get the title until 68. It was 1400 dollars so they took a loan at the local bank who held the title.
Here is the owner/seller A.C. Goodwin under the bus broken down in Hermosillo Mexico March 1967

Here is Rusty (the kid that jumped on the roof denting it in at some point after it died) standing next to the bus at the beach in Mexico.

And here is the bus sitting on the beach in Mexico , notice the camp stove, it is a grey sears unit and was in the bus when I found it. The other camper was their friends who helped repair the bus in the first pic.

Took the 50's chevy lights off and found this. I was considering running two sets of original tail lights instead of welding up the second holes.

Looks like you posted the wrong picture? Sad

Or is that the view you have looking through your tail light hole?

Nice job on the roof. If you're taking votes on the taillights... +1 for welding them up.

I had my seat welded up, it had cracks where the tubes join together the back and bottom. It also had a crack on the long weld that connects the rotation plate goody. Next I sprayed it black and after it dries I will hog ring some canvas over the springs. Still waiting to hear about the upholstery, but no hurry.
I am going to try a stock grb trans to at least make the bus a roller. I bought 2 more 15 inch bus wheels last week but I need to get some tires still, what should I get? I would like the bus to drive nice, but the off road tires I see on buses are so tempting! Does anyone have experience driving with those BFG Mud terrain tires on a split bus?

Don't lose the number of the guy who welded your seat. Damn! That is some nice work.
