I removed the front floor today, it was rusty and beyond repair. I used a large pair of channel locks to rip the entire floor out and it took me about 3 hours. Very Happy

I need to use the sander some more to make the welds go away still, but it was pretty easy. I didn't even take off the pedals or the steering or anything except the high beam switch. The only spot left is where the shifter sits and I need to grind the heads of the bolts off I guess, they are stuck but good. Cool

He called and has the trans all torn down, it needs all new bearings and ring and pinion. I gave him the go ahead on it so I expect him to have it done pretty soon. I need some drums for it now, is there any differences between them for the big nuts?.

Great job getting that floor out. I wouldn't grind down those shifter bolts. From where I sit some heat, PB blaster and vice grips and they will move. It will be faster than drilling and tapping, cause you still need those threads.
Heat them up red hot.

Great bus man, love it.

Well I was thinking today about my found bus and wonder in my head how much my bus is worth or will be worth when I get it driving. I am thinking I should have extra insurance and thought maybe 10 grand would be the value? I see many buses for sale and I can't find anything to compare really. What do you folks think?

Always start with a phone call to the insurance company. They may surprise you. I believe there are differences with agreed and stated value. From what I understand the stated value is a determination the insurance company makes. If they say 15k then there ya go. I would definitely go higher than 10k when you are all done.

Thanks folks, I have not purchased the tires yet, the Nexans sound really good though and I see they are not Chinese so I will get them most likely, or perhaps the Continentals. Cool

I did order a KF154 front floor from Gerson now and I am waiting on a few other items to arrive. I will be careful to put the bus together as original as I can so that it will keep that value intact.

The trans is in and I have sand blasted drums and backing plates and today I washed the front beam. The roof is getting straightened out better and today the parking brake handle was removed and the clutch and brake levers also, everything is getting blasted and painted.
