A friend of ours Jason Leathers dug up this news story and I thought it was pretty cool. Figured I'd share it here.

The guy is a complete goof, hates the attention but pushes the bus out to the street on occasion, a heavily traveled street. If he truly didn't want people to stop 10 minutes worth of work could hide the bus from view...

I saw this in the newspaper a while back.

1. I call BS on 6 people/day.
2. It has no motor so he can't push it in the garage? Riiiiiiiiiiiigght.

They are begging for it to get stolen.

I love how the news story uses their first and last names, city they live in and the street they live on. If they didn't have 6 a day before they will now but it will be after hours or when nobody is home.

And ya gotta wonder...how did the news station hear of it...other than the old couple tellin' 'em about it...I'd say this is a brilliant ploy to generate more interest in their bus...like takin' it to 'the classic' before you roll into BJ...but I love a good sales tactic, only disappointed I didn't think of it...i'd be interested in knowing who buys it & what they pay (more than $47k cash, or so they would have us believe)...

'I want less people to inquire about my bus so I advertised it on TV'...

Really???

It cracks me up how the guy makes it seem that it has just now been parked there cause the motor died. Well it's been parked there for the last 5+ years and hasn't moved from that spot but maybe once that I know of. Too funny.

Pride and joy that doesn't ever move.

my "spin" on this is, the "old" couple are very savy. They most likely have a good idea what the value of their bus is. Personally, I don't see bus prices falling much very soon, and I suspect they don't either.
Most likely they want to keep it but enjoy some of the attention they've received as a result of it being seen.

Its not at all uncommon to have folks approach me about my bus. My bus friends all have had similar experiences. Truthfully it can be a pain. More then once I've returned to my '63 15 window walk-thru from a wally world or Costco run, and found all manner of notes under the wipers with offers to buy or asking if its for sale. Earlier this summer while on a short trip into Oregon, my wife and I pulled into a McDonalds. Sitting out in the parking lot with our dog eating our hamburghers and stuff, a guy walks up, out of no where, sticks his head in my window and ask's..." you interested in selling this?"
I suppose you never know if you don't ask, but with no sign visible or other indication it was on the market, to me it was rude and uncalled for. I mean no walks up and asks if its for sale when I'm in my Toyota. Very Happy

Typical. We've all been the one knocking on the door in this story! At least it's under cover. I'd knock and ask about the jeep. VWs have been overrated for years. There are a lot of other 'mobiles to chase.

I find notes under my wipers with offers to buy all the time. Seems these people think I cannot resist the offer of $700.
