I had no idea this was a thing! Mine are missing. No wonder my seats rock slightly in their tracks. I'd really like to know, too. It's #7 on the drawing. Not too helpful to know this, but perhaps it'll be a clue for someone with better (older) reference material:

They are very nice to have. One of those things that seems like it is unimportant until you have one and see the difference. They make the seats slide much better, stop the rocking and allow the locking bar to clear the grooves without pushing on it like crazy. The difference between my passenger seat, which has them, and the driver which doesn't is very noticeable. I think it is also why it took a scissor jack to unstick my driver seat. |

1 only. All the buses I have seen have only 1 on each seat. I put 2 in on our seats and they would not slide. Weird. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

I noticed that, too. I wonder what the "proper" installation is... _________________ John

Looks like Raul has quite a few of these for sale:

Also, as the ad states, these are only used from 77-79. The track that is welded to the seat pedestal is different from my 76. Looks like I have to settle for wiggly seat tracks after all, unless a different part was used for that year. |

its been a while and this is what i have learned about these
last 3 buses all had just 1 guide per seat
confirming what sgkent said
some people told me that vanogon guides are different
and wont fit in a bus.....
maybe some of you can confirm or deny this
here are some pics of the bus guides and the guides out of a vanogon
the bus guides are the black ones with no writing on them
vanogon guides are the grey one with the vwlogo and part number on them _________________ order your BAY WINDOW T-SHIRT here http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1526918
