This front tranny mount it's a bit of a mystery from a trike. The part going to the tranny appears too btw for a 73 and newer but the frame part numbers and appearance don't correlate the number on the rubber is 311301265b and the front plate and studs don't correspond.
Any have any thoughts add to what the frame part of this mount would be? We need top make a replacement and don't know which to order. Or if machining a solid mount would be best. [/img] |

What you have is a home made adaptor mount. Someone welded a piece from a late bug 3 bolt trans mount to a type III 2 bolt mount. You could duplicate their effort, but the heat from welding can devulcanize the rubber from the front plate. Or you could fab a solid mount, which would transfer noise and vibration to the chassis, hardly an issue with a trike, i would think Or you could change the trans front cover to an earlier two bolt style. Or you could buy this http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1585906 and make spacers to make up the shorter length, and perhaps oval out the bolt holes just a bit. Or you could get one of these http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1585906 and maybe make an adaptor to your chassis with some angle iron. Let us know how it all works out! _________________ Jack Staggs
