Just found this thread. Outsanding! The replacement CV joint boots on my Vanagon Syncro have been mostly junk, falling apart almost immediately. Very frustrating. I'd like to buy your silicone replacements that fit a stock 14" Syncro Vanagon when they become available. Thanks for doing the R&D for us and putting them up for sale! |

My understanding of the air hole and channel to main boot is because the 108mm (16") cv joint comes with a cork gasket, effectively making it a sealed boot. So it needs that air hole so it can equalise pressure. Well thats what i read on a audi forum somewhere! _________________ 16" syncro multivan pop top AHU TDI

I've inquired twice to the silicone steering rack boot ad, Sept 17th & 24th, and have not heard anything back. Has anyone gotten a hold of Alika to buy these yet?

Interesting. I don't see how the model with no cork gasket would let air out towards the flange anyway, they are so tight!
I'm still waiting on the damn flanges for the 14" 100mm boots, what a bummer! _________________ Silicone Steering Boots and 930 Cv boots for sale in the classifieds.

some new pictures from my work yesterday.
I've been busy doing tons of things at the same time, but it the meantime while rebuilding the Syncro transmission, I snapped some pictures of these Porsche 930 style ligthened CV joints and the silicone boots
3/8" hardware with spreader plates installed and zip tied boot to the flange

Hi folks and happy holidays!
I still didn't receive the flanges from the machinist for the 100MM CV boots.
At this point the manufacturer is ignoring my calls/emails I don't know why. Big BS I have to deal with (they were supposed to be on the lathe a couple months ago by now!!), and I don't have much spare time at the end of the year. Berrrrry busy with solar work (my regular job) and restoring/putting on the road my 2 vacation rental vans since it's the busy season as well for that.
The 108mm (930 style boots) are ready though, I don't have time to put up an add mostly bc I wouldn't have time to box and ship, so that'll wait January 2nd

Any news Alika?
My front boots have started to fail Not quite dire, but the end is near...
I'll find a way to limp them along (as I want these Si boots, AND I have other work to do when I tear into it, that I'm not prepared to do yet)
looking for a set-it and forget-it upgrade!
thanks!

Hey man!
no I haven't had time lately to find a new guy to machine these flanges at a decent cost, I "lost contact" with my main supplier.
That sucks big time
It's in the air now, I have 200 boots with no flange
I'll put the 930's for sale soon in the classifieds.
I will make a public announcement when I get these flanges done.
Aloha and thank you for your interest _________________ Silicone Steering Boots and 930 Cv boots for sale in the classifieds.

Thanks Alika!
I know machine shops that we use for work around here are all VERY busy and are charging premium prices.
Good luck!
