^^^ at least it has a better chance of being Turkish that way. The US would be quite a trek for a bus from the middle east.

Mmmmm... Safaris!

Looks nice and fairly dry. It would be a nice save if it didn't require a high-risk rescue mission and tremendous cost to safely bring home from Afganistan. Not really rare enough to risk an IED or having your head loped off... Find one here in the States for less money, risk and effort.

Then again, some folks love a challenge...

Yes, it looks pretty dry and has all the seats. It's just really tricky now to deal with paper works in Afghanistan as it is forbidden to buy a car as a foreigner. This means bribes, fakes papers...
Would love to find the same here in the US!!!!

Come on Combinations,

We have all watched you create new threads on this particular bus and post several pics of it over the last couple years. This is it bro, Sh*t or get off the pot!!! You going to stand on the porch and bark all day little doggie, or are you going to bite!!! Pulling this bus out of a war torn Afghanistan, it doesn't getting any bigger a score. You obviously have somebody there who is close enough to take pics of it. Get it done.

Ok, that all said. I think I need some caffeine. Sorry for the call out, and I don't mean to offend you, and it probably is impossible, but I hope after the saga and mystery you have taken us all on with this bus, you are able to do everything you can to get it out. Good luck, and again sorry for the call out, but I think it needed to be said.

Aaron

Super highly extremely unlikely.

I'm headed to Bagram today for a couple weeks, and then back down here to Kandahar. 1967SO42 on here from Arizona, got a lead on this one from Kabul, and despite floating some large Afees for it, his money was returned (very hard to believe but true) and the bus remains there, shrouded, also in mystery.

Frankly, I would rather it stay shrouded in mystery, than my -or other American's- body parts. I'm pretty adventurous, but knowing what I know from being here for three years, I'm NOT adventurous enough to step outside the wire... YET, that is.

Your find is straight, yeah, but I'd be WAY more apt to go for the Green Machine before your common bus.

Where is that thing? Do you have an exact location? The dude who knows everything there is to know, is the French Guy who did had that thread that got his bus out accross Afghanistan on the top of that huge passenger bus. I forget the name of the thread, but that dude, that dude DID do the program, and he's also the one who found The Green Machine.

Tell you what. Tell me where it is. I do have a friend who just converted to high-speed mover. He's outside the wire, and has body guards. I'll contact him.

Spill more beans on this thing and keep us entertained.

kombisutra and Combination,

I will be headed back to AFG this Sunday, should be on BAF early next week. Perhaps we can get together for some Greenbean coffee. Hit me up on PM.

While deployed I spend the majority of my time "outside the wire" and have found a number of VW Buses, a few split-windows, but several Bay windows, including a bay single cab. I use to have a list of 8-digit grids for every bus/Beetle I've found in Kabul. If I can find the list I will attempt to confirm they are still there. I have never seen the bus that is the topic of this thread, but would be willing to take a closer look if time/ OP environment permits.

Let me know.

Absolutely. Very good to hear from you. I'll be up there for only a couple weeks, so let's get on this as soon as you get situated. Who knows... YOU may be the one who finally gets me outside the wire Shocked

The more significant hurdle though, is getting anything OUT. Why would anyone want to? In a word: Badassness!

It would be cool, but the value of the adventure would out-weigh either of the first two buses. Will be very interested to see if your finds could eventually evolve into photographs.

PM sent.
