Last May at BOR I ran my first passes ever in my Turbo 1600dp street bug. heres the specs it had then:
Stock 1600cc DP:
Stock-
Crank
Rods
Pistons
Camshaft
Heads ( except single hi rev springs)
Ignition:
Locked 009 20* timing
Points
autozone coil
autozone plug wires
ngk stock plugs .025 gap
Turbo:
T25 from DSM 2g eclipse
Carb:
holley 350 2bbl
custom intake
custom exhaust
ebay wastegate 5 psi spring
On 10psi heres what it ran:
15.3@90mph
2.3 60 ft
NOW... This time i made some changes and added this only:
MSD BTM
MSD 2 step launch control
MSD Distributor
MSD wires
Snow Performance stg 2 water/meth injection
15 psi wastegate spring
Custom Kafer bar
Oil cooler
100 octane gas
and....18psi of boost
my last pass when I cranked the boost heres my results:
14.1@95mph
2.0 60ft
With better launch i knew i could have reached the 13.99 mark.
every run i improved in the following times:
15.4@90
14.9@92
14.5@92
14.7@93
then 14.1@95
I ran faster then my dial in time on last pass but didnt care when I saw my time. im making a few adjustments and will go back again to get that 13.xx _________________ Turbo 69' street bug - 1600cc, t25 turbo, holley 2 bbl, custom header, full msd w/ btm, water meth, 18 psi, single hi rev springs, stock cam, stock heads

Nice. Do you remember how much was spent on the turbo specific or parts modified for turbo use BEFORE the changes and after? I saw the pic of your engine. You might benefit from an inexpensive Moroso crankcase evacuation system. You'd need a sand seal and an air/oil separator or a good oil baffle that's completely sealed (e.g. without a breather). The whole system could cost you under $150, and free up some crankcase pressure, thereby freeing up a few HP. |

I think I spent around 800-1000 dollars on it. Wasn't too bad.
Yeah I need ventilation, its in the works. I was trying to find slicks in time but I just used my street tires and lowered the pressure. My 60 ft kept improving as im still learning how to launch the car. _________________ Turbo 69' street bug - 1600cc, t25 turbo, holley 2 bbl, custom header, full msd w/ btm, water meth, 18 psi, single hi rev springs, stock cam, stock heads

I have the same set up going for me in my ghia but with a single port. T3/t4, has a lot of top end on boost, 38mm wastegate with 7psi spring. Everything is stock didn't even lock out the timing. I haven't tried race gas yet, will soon |
