Hello everyone,

I'm trying to source what the title says. My father used to have one but unfortunately it got lost and I do not remember from what publisher is neither the exact name of the work. I would like to see if I can get information from you so i can find a copy to buy.

The encyclopedia is about 6 to 7 volumes describing each part of the car; it is from the 60s. My family told me it was published by popular mechanics but I have no success in finding it with them. The volumes are as follow: one deals with the two stroke engine, other the 4 stroke, other with the diesel engine, suspension and steering, electrical system, and transmission/drive train. The information in the work is general and gives you the fundamentals. The volume that deals with the 4 stroke engine has a Beetle in the cover.

I hope you can help me in this matter.

Thanks, Lee

Nothing looks like what you described.

Try bookfinder.com too

That does sound a little familiar, if not PM then maybe a Mechanics illustrated publication, one of those mail away and recieve a new volume every month or two deals, "collect the whole set".

Try searching for Popular Mechanics Home Handyman or Do It Yourself Encyclopedias. They covered automotive as well as household repairs. Ebay has tons from the 50's up to the 80's.
