Another busy afternoon today, taking the gearbox out and general tidy up.
Had my mate pop round to price up welding for me, as I would rather be taught by someone knowing what they are doing and he has also done the majority of the welding I need before, so I'm in safe hands.
Gearbox took a good two hours to remove just down the the amount of crap build up around the bolt, so I had to dig them out from under years of mud and gunk.
Took it slowly and it wasn't to difficult apart from two lower bolts on the mount next to the gear linkage.
Stashed it round the back to worry about another day, ow I also drained all the old gearbox oil, that bloody stunk.
I've noticed myself becoming more tired and generally under the weather aswell so I think I need to slow down, as a standard week includes working on the bug most nights till 8-9 after a days work, nobody is super human right, we all need to take a rest. |

Did a little test with some 17p bottle of diet coke, seen a few bits on the Internet saying it's good for removing rust. And results were quite decent.
Left some nuts and bolts to soak over night, in about a pints worth of the stuff.
I know they don't look spotless but considering it was nearly impossible to put any ring spanners around the bolts I think they came up quite well. |

I admire your persistence. Do you know anyone with a little blasting cabinet? It would make some of that cleaning & "re-use assessment" go a lot faster. |

Tonight I removed the left over previous pan via removing the spot welds.
Utter pain in the ass.
Few more rusty parts that I hoped.
