Read up on the differences over the years first. Do you plan on lowering it? Lifting it? Going fast?
In any case I would say go '69+ but '68 if you get an automatic. _________________ Wash your hands

There is always an ulterior motive when somebody is thinking of buying an aircooled vw, just gotta figure it out. |

I'm going to slightly lower it but leave the engine alone, the most I'm going to do is change the rims, update the sound system, and paint the German flag on the roof, comic bomb the hood and add a few stickers. I wouldn't mind going fast in them but if it works I'm not going to screw with it. As for automatics... I can't stand automatic transmissions, boring and more things to go bad in my opinion. |

Well the absolute main motive to buy an air cooled vw is life is short might as well experience it, plus my brother owned a 73 vw super bug, I used to ride in it when I was 4 and though it was the coolest thing ever. I've always like the bugs, another reason is the engines are easy to work on if u have the air cooled bible. |

I regret not buying a bus when I was offered one. I had some fun times partying and camping with one when I was in school. _________________ John |

Just get both, that's why I bought my truck.
So get a '69+ that doesn't already have fuel injection and it'll be easy. Fuel injection has more power, but you miss out of the fun of having to tune carbs. _________________ Wash your hands

That's pretty much what I'm going to do, I'll get the squareback first. I'm getting a 71 squareback, I do want some power to make it faster in case of an emergency. What could do to make it faster? Make the jets bigger? |

Coming from the standpoint of another young dude I can say from experience that trying to mess around in the trunk of a super is not easy, especially when you're a bit "larger" _________________ 71 Super beetle |
