Really looking forward to attending this event for the first time. Will be driving over from Houston on Friday. Have a few questions since I don't have a FB account.
What do we need to do or bring to participate in the Chili Cook-Off and
Memorial Breakfast? I see Saturday BBQ dinner is included in the admission, so we just show up for that one?
How is the lake for swimming? Looks pretty rocky on the satellite imagery.
Plan to bring the dog (with leash), any issues there?
How about firewood? |

I've been there last 4 yrs,
1. never did cook-off, but everyone just brings their stuff and make it there,
2. the breakfast is part of entry fee,
3. BBQ dinner, yes just show up
4.it may be too cold for swimming..
5. bring dog and leash.
6. there will be fire wood provided
7. bring rain gear, rained last 4 yrs
8. be prepare for an awesome weekend!
This will be my 1st time in 4 yrs to not go _________________ 71' Bus "Sunshine"

That all sounds great! So convenient not to have to cook much on Saturday. It looks like it will still be in the mid 80s, plenty warm enough for us to swim. |

Update: I'll be coming in Saturday afternoon.
I've pulled my automatic transmission this week for a reseal. This trip will be the long distance test drive following that service.

I have the exact same leak that I just found on mine. Trouble is when I had the transmission serviced earlier this year the shop could not separate the transmission from the final drive side. The rust on the cast-iron has fused the two halves together. |

I had it done at a shop up in Oklahoma before I moved down here.
So far the place I have had the most luck with in Houston is Smith Foreign Auto http://smithforeignauto.com/. Unfortunately Donnie Smith, who runs the place, is in the early stages of retirement and the shop is now only open Mon - Wed 9-6. |
