1976 transporter. Turn key all the way and the engine starts right up. Let go of key and engine dies. Plenty of gas in tank but seems to be running out. Don't hear fuel pump running afterwards. Any ideas where to start? |

Is there power at the 15 terminal of the coil when the key is in the 'run' position? |

Ah the infamous defective ignition switch. I have had an awful time with them in my 68 standard. Same thing goes to start but doesn't. I would parallel a switch and see if that isolates problem. _________________ Volkswagen: We tune what we drive.

Thanks for the replies. This is going to sound like I'm dumb, but here goes. The ignition coil does not have a "15" terminal it only has a positive and a negative symbol. Yes they both have 12v when ignition switch is turned on. |
