How I bought it:
The holes seem a bit close together - as well as out of round. What is the proper distance between the holes?

Agreed, search the threads and figure out which kind of antenna you like, as well as the placement, and go with that. I have seen them placed together and apart, also straight up and down as well as angled back. _________________ Plate of shrimp |

The only "proper" location.... is the one you like... or are stuck with thanks to a Vw dealer..
Dual mounts look the best...
but...
Looks more like fat holes for for a single mount..

I have an antenna like the one stale air pictured, but the holes were close together, like yours. I was in for a tear down and repaint anyway, so I welded the lower hole shut, and used a step bit to drill a new hole further down. You could try the one like volkswagenut pictured and see if it matches your existing setup; it looks pretty close. I prefer the two-mount, but that antenna would look fine.
This is the dual mount with 7.5 inches between centers, oriented vertically.

kreissig, that location looks perfect, and like something that was done originally at the time of sale in US. I like the pass. side location for the antenna.
Looks like the single-mount antenna will fit right in there and was there before someone put in an older style double-mount one at one time. |
