|
|
This is just unbelieveable. The California BAR (Bureau of Automotive Repair) is using roadside checkpoints to inspect vehicles. They are being assisted by the CHP. Apparently it's a voluntary check but my guess is that the voluntary part isn't advertised at the checkpoint. Looks like another excuse to remove our freedoms.
http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=983048
A chp officer waved me down and told to me to pull to the side. The bar agent told me to open the trunk and I refused, I was then thrown down on the ground and handcuffed, all the while I was refusing the consent to search.
I didn't get search, but I was forced to wait in the cruiser for 15 minutes, I was demanding constantly if I was free to go. Then I was released after I refused to participate in the smog test.
I was released , and now I'm sitting in my car at my workplace still shaken up.
http://www.policestateusa.com/2013/routine-smog-checkpoints-impede-california-roads/
CALIFORNIA — Checkpoints are becoming part of the scenery in many parts of the country. Excuses for blocking roads range from catching drunks, to finding drugs, to catching illegal immigrants, to just simply making people show their papers in order to continue down the road. In California, they employ daily checkpoints to catch polluters
Things have gotten way out of control and our law enforcement needs to be reigned in some. _________________ Lead Mechanic: San Diego Air and Space Museum

I hope it is NOT true, but if it is, we have no one to thanks but the Eco-Chic green people. But nonetheless, a good way to stop gross polluters. _________________ I'd be UNSTOPPABLE if not for Law Enforcement and PHYSICS.
I recycle old cars and parts, other than when I rot, that's as Green as I am going to get.
Thanks to my Tesla driving neighbors, I feel more relaxed driving my SUBURBAN and old VW's.

"They certainly don't make it seem like it's voluntary. There were no warning markers. Nothing like that at all. It just seemed intimidating," said Mark Cutino of Brentwood. _________________ Lead Mechanic: San Diego Air and Space Museum

theyve been doing it for years. You didnt have to stop, they put sniffers on freeway onramps and measuer as you go by. I've been gone from CA for 5 years, they were doing it a couple years before I left. It took a pic of your license plate and mailed you if you were a gross polluter |

The hell with California..
Nothing more than a buncha shrub huggin' hippie crap out there.... trying to save the environment one catalytic convertor at a time.
Good luck with that..
By the way...thanks for polluting the air for all the states East of you.. .
Just curious...
How many of those Smog Cops out there on the West Coast are sitting around in thier cruisers idling on the phone ?
That issue is rapant everywhere...

My grandpa (RIP) got a ticket in 1972 for a smoky 1957 chevy pickup, so what.
You think you have a right to pollute or something? Only Owens Corning gets to do that bucko!
When I lived in santa clara ca that factory would dump all the scrubbed garbage out right at 5 pm every afternoon, and there was nothing anyone could do. I am sure nothing has changed. But hey go ahead blame the greens or whatever you call them. My shop had a new crop dead insects and birds every day because of that superfund factory that makes insulation. _________________

Just because cars are exempt does not mean that you can modify them. Technically you can not modify the emissions or induction system of any vehicle.

Exactly.. ( me too)
Which means we dont go out of our way to protect it either..
Just... go with da flow..
Im not going to harm the environment on purpose..
Recyle when I can....
I still think if "they" want us to recyle stuff.. either pay us.. or at least make it convenient to recyle.
I have to burn 5 gallons of foissil fuel to recyle anything.. kinda a double standard.
So things generally dont get recycled.
Want our cars cleaner.... give me an incentive or tax break to do it.. Then maybe.
Dont get me started on the School Buses around here that ride up and down every rural and city street and stop at every other house... just so Suzy and Johnny dont have to walk to the corner stop..
Such a damn waist of those valuable fossil fuels....and our hard earned taxes.
Makes ya wonder why we have a bunch of fat and lazy kids in the US..
Kids are safer in numbers.. to ward of the perverts and are easier to spot in a pack..
Maybe that way Mrs Soccer Mom in her tank size SUV, can see those kids instead of fondling her phone, while firing her cig up, trying paint on her face..
.
OOpps.. what were we talking about again.. ??
Emissions.. oh yeah... Eh' just hang a Cat on it instead of a Stinger.. Dont park too close to the pumps or bump into it with ya left calf..

No emission testing here in Fla., they stopped that something like 15 years ago. Thank you gulf and ocean breezes that just blow all the bad stuff out to the fish. I would be weird to have road side tests like that. And as far as the recycling comment above, every city I have lived in down here provides one container for paper goods and one for plastic, glass and metal with curb side pick up. |

I used to have a 1991 Toyota 4x4 pickup and the same thing happened. I walked up to my truck in the company (guarded) parking lot and wondered where all that misc. hardware on the ground came from. As soon as I started the truck I knew the answer.
Now I drive this
