My husband really wants to add a 1940 Ford kit to a bug. I see where a company in Wisconsin is evidently still making these kits.
Does anyone here have any experience with the 1940 Ford kit? How difficult is it to install? I am presently looking for a bug for him to use and it appears that most years of bugs would work, but if I am not correct about that could you all please let me know, and any recommendations you have?
Thank you. _________________ 1987 Syncro, 2003 Jetta TDI Wagon, 1972 Standard Beetle |

Let me tell ya from first hand experience from about 4 years ago. First, there are a couple different ones available depending on the year and model of the car - Like Supers are way different. I had looked for used ones with no success.
The guy in Wisconsin does still make them. Real nice guy, but unless things changed radically in the last couple years, you will pay through the nose, wait quite a while and if you want it to look remotely decent, expect 80+ hours in leveling the dips and trying to get the grill to fit reasonably well. I also had some freight damage on mine.
One neat little tip - is if you use early style fenders, real 40 Ford headlight rings will fit faily easily. PM me for more details if you go that route. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.
