Hey there. I have an 04 jetta. Somehow my wife broke the switch blade. No damage to any other part of the key fob. With a little research i found that i can purchase just the upper half of the key fob that contains the metal switch blade portion. It is a blank and has to have the grooves machined in it. I contacted a locksmith in anchorage who says he can do that. Is it correct that only the bottom half of the key fob needs programming? So is there anything wrong with this plan? |

Depends on what part the "pill" is in for the Imobilizer. Been a while since I have had to look at a key for one of those. |

The key will have to be programmed to the car. The Immobilizer chip is in the flip key half. Only the remote is in the bottom half. _________________ Master Tech at Team Volkswagen

In the past, I have been able to swap the blade, you just need to remove small roll pin to do the swap, but it sounds like you need more than just the blade swapped. |
