Top work, gotta love a Super Germanlooker
Just one observation, I wouldnt drive it real far without your front wheel bearing grease caps on, water and dirt getting into them will make the wheel bearing fail real quick and they do some damage when they go.
I had one destroy the spindle. _________________ Quick little bug, you got a Porsche motor in that?

I have a clearance issue with the grease caps that I didn't take into consideration when I ordered my wheels. I can't fit the grease caps because the center hole is a tad too small. Any recommendations? My plan is to take the wheels to the machine shop along with grease caps so material can be removed. |

I replaced the exhaust yesterday. With the ride height of the car, the headers and muffler were dragging everywhere and it was a pain.
Here is the new setup. Looks good and sounds even better.

I had the same problem with the exhaust on my 72 super. Switched to tri-mil like yours and no more problems. I like the sound a lot better too.You do have a sharp looking car. Nice job!! |

Today I finally got around to installing the sun visors. I had been stalling because I couldn't remember exactly where the holes were and were difficult to feel through the new headliner. I studied some photos in the gallery and found them all with minimal probing and no damage to the headliner. These are from TMI and they fit and function great.
I also installed the assist straps.

Just added the center console that I ordered from MAM, It was dropped shipped from TMI. It's in the color saddle to match my interior. The screw that secures it to the tunnel was black, instead I used a 1 1/4 tan fence screw and you can barely notice it. Its in the center square of the console. Now I don't have to take a kid with me to get a soda.

Looks great! I just put on the same GT exhaust and it sounds great. You just have to take some paint stripper and wipe off the black temporary coating and paint it with high temp paint or that coating its shipped with will peel quickly ant it will start to rust.
Love the look of the car! |

I changed the bolt pattern to 4X100 and my wheels are 17x7, tires are 205/40/17 up front, 225/45/17 in the rear. |
What is the brand and name of the wheels you put on? Looking to do something very similar with my German Look build. _________________ My '72 Super Beetle Build Thread: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=7684856#7684856 |

These wheels were new factory take offs from a European Toyota Corolla. I bought them off Ebay from a guy that lives across the pond. Once I changed my bolt pattern to 4x100, I started looking around and choose these 1) the look, 2) the price. If you change to 4x100, the choices for wheels are almost unlimited.

Thanks! I'm concerned about the center bore fitting over the hub on the rear drums and the offset hitting the springs (even with the maxx struts from topline). _________________ My '72 Super Beetle Build Thread: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=7684856#7684856 |

Did you have your rotors redrilled to 4x100 or are you using adapters? |

If you go aftermarket wheels you wont have an issue as they are 73.1mm center bore, OEM wheels vary depending on what they came off but the vast majority of jap 4x100 cars are 51-54mm which is fine for the back but doesnt clear front bearing caps.
I use a Honda space saver spare and had to trim a center cap to clear it. _________________ Quick little bug, you got a Porsche motor in that?
