It looks like the average yearly salary for 1960 was around $5500 so... 6 months salary?

Cheaper than now I guess, since now the average is $50K/year and that car would never be $25K.

I agree, they were advertised as station wagons.

I'm blanking on what "R&H" is in a lot of the ads. Any hints?

Yeah, I remember when radios and heaters were options.

I paid $400 for my first 356, a '59 coupe in '69. Complete, running.... traded it for a '59 Convertible D, sold it a few years later to pay tuition for $1200, thought I hit the jackpot.
