seems most vendors do sell wireworks harness's, but 60 probably isnt a hi enough volume seller to keep in stock, I will call Bob for sure, thank you very much for the contact info

when did ghia wiring stop running through the conduit in the rocker panel? maybe i "should" adapt to that style (or just fix my conduit--ha). its what the guy who started this project was gonna do, run it under the carpet, which he stated was later style.

i have my lower fender repair panel now, so i will cut the corner off and see if i can get wiring through it or not easily enough

I'll check, but I thought my '73 convertible ran through the heat channels/rocker panels?

I think the harness was moved outside the rocker in August 65 - for the 66 model year.

its been forever since i posted, work has been VERY slow since ive been to busy. since im self employed, that is not a bad thing. I was able to spend the first full day on the Ghia today for months, thought i would post some progress pics (not all from today, various stages during winter) My goal was to have this thing in paint by now, im still pounding out bumps and bruises and replacing the rust rear corner (only rust on the car mind you)

straightening out bumps in the rear quarter

this was the only rust on the car, but it ate all the way through. i replaced the inner bumper mount, fabbed a lower inner fender, and replaced outer skin

finally cleared my garage out today to work on here, she sees light

todays progress, this corner was hit at some point crushing the electrical conduit. replaced that (yet to be welded in) was able to sleeve it for a nice fit. just need to weld it in, replace rocker skin, and lower fender. thats tomorrows job

that took way longer than expected again--replacement panel fit is s**t. but i finally massaged the panel, redoing some of the compound curves to make it fit just right. and i gots doors on to make sure lines matched up. one small welding task to do (forgot to fill the grab handle holes i dont want to reuse) then i can FINALLY start blocking it out

been to busy to post much lately, or even work on the car this summer, but progress has been made

spent a lot of time filling and blocking the car, tons of little bumps and bruises on this mostly rust free car. i got it as straight as possible before filling

she is finally wearing some paint (primer) after 11 years of sitting in bare metal, thank god for the dry high desert and inside storage so she didnt surface rust away. 1 coat of epoxy and high build put on after that set up

and continue to block, re-prime with high build, rinse and repeat. on on my third coat and block session now, it should be laser straight. amazing how you find low spots after you get primer on it you never saw or felt before

should be getting some color on it very soon (still have to apply the 3rd coat of primer and block that out followed by 600 grit final sand)

Looking good. I plan to follow about the same process but I will hang the doors and hoods before doing the outside because I am using a metallic. Keep on with the great job.

forgot to comment, Mango Green and Sea Gull Grey. correct for 1960 and also my favorite color, painted a 66 bus this color before (not correct for the year). car shoudl be Stratos Blue, but i have a thing for Mango and not really for Stratos.

That is looking terrific!
What was your decision on the wiring harness? Did you pick one up from Wireworks?what was the quality and instructions like? Curious because that's my next step on my '60 vert.

i havent gotten to that stage yet, just got the chassis bits painted last week, so need to build the chassis and mate body to chassis before i get to wiring. BUT, i do plan to contact wireworks for that harness. from what i gather, its the goods. let me know if you get there before me since we are both doing 60's, not very common year. what color is yours?

Mine is a what they call Paprika (L452) It looks a lot like a persimmon. I believe it is a two year only color. I'll certainly let you know what I find out too re the harness. Mine is the original, and I have had to replace certain wire dues to corrosion and just plain age so I thought why not just do it right? I was holding out to put a new one in after painting, but really that is not going to happen any time soon. Are you going to keep yours a 6volt?

i kept my promise to myself and walked away form this project for a while. i literally threw a cover on it and have been doing other things. about all ive done recently is por15'd some chassis bits, hung the doors so they wouldnt get scratched floating around my garage, and dropped my motor long block at the machinist to open it up
