I agree, bad design. But there are still originals on the road that have never had a crash or a seat rail breaking. I think the odds are in my favor that it will last for as long as I own the car. Actually, there are flaws everywhere you look in the world of automobiles. Ask Ralph Nader about the Corvair. The Ford Pinto gas tank issue, The Crown Victoria gas tank issue. The Yugo.

The rails didn't break in those pics.. the seats simply came off the rails. .

I'm in the current auto industry as a tech.... it amazes me what's rolling out there.... but things are made much safer today.. than 50 years ago..
It took a few Dick's like Nader and loads of stupid consumers with ZERO common sense along the way to help that progress happen.. in the USA.

Too bad people cant put the biggest distraction problem down and simply drive..
