This is the style column I have..

It has a 14" Grant style wheel mounted on it which has a depth of 4" from nut-to-face of wheel. I recently (finally) found an adaptor for an orphan wheel I got two years ago...

Luckily, the new wheel is not a 'dishy' as the Grant ..and the diameter is the same, so I dodged a bullet there..

The question: should I change out the column to another year where the head of the column might not contrast so much with the bigass aluminum boss the new wheel bolts to..? Or is there such? Appreciate any thoughts.

Jim

I would think a quick coat of silver spray paint on the top black part of the existing column would do the trick?

An earlier column isn't going to do anything but make the big polished adapter look even bigger and more out of place. "un-polishing" the adapter might also help draw less attention to it.

Either late or early column is going to be same diameter where turn signal housing is. Having a locking column can be a good thing some times.

Thanks guys, That wheel boss would be probably the brightest thing on the buggy. The idea of 'un-polishing' is probably what I will do..

Chuck it to spin and see if I can get a 3M pad, or similar, to make it more look like the spokes in the wheel. Thanks. I needed that kickstart.

This is what I did with the column that was meant for my Berry Mini-T.

Went with a different idea, but not because of any problems with the function and look of the column head/directional.

Something like this might work for you as well . . .

If you like the look, but don't want to bother making your own version, I planning on putting this up for sale in The Samba Classified over the weekend.
