|
|
My '67 Red VW Bug that I've had for about 7 years, license plate 376FVK, was stolen from street parking the night before last near my apartment in NW Portland. Here's an album of car photos that include identifying features (e.g. peeling paint on the hood, custom license plate cupholder, beige interior): http://imgur.com/a/S3h6b I've filed a police report, shared all over Facebook and Instagram, shared with the Rose City Volksters, posted on Portland Craiglist and Reddit, and am calling local VW shops. If you can think of any other avenues to explore, I'm ready and willing.
If you see this car and it's not being driven by me (posing with the car a few photos down), then please report it. Or reply to this and I'll go track down the jerk who took my mechanical companion away from me. Thanks for any help!

What horrible news. I had my 66 stolen a little more than a year ago so I know somewhat all of the emotions and feelings you are going through. If I see any Red 67's in Southern Cal I will certainly give it the once over twice. I hope somehow, someway, someday you are able to recover your Beetle. Keep us updated.
This sucks. |

So sorry for your loss. Just like horse thieves in the old West, people who steal cars should be hung!
Were you aware that the car started life as a European Standard, or 1200A? Very unique, and that makes it easier to spot if someone sees it.
Hopefully, it doesn't get cut up into pieces
Very best wishes for a recovery. _________________ -Bruce

Thanks so much, graysky. There really are a lot of emotions tied up in this car and I think I'm feeling them all at the same time. Woof.
And thank you as well, 61SNRF. I also hope she isn't broken down into a parts car (although that's probably likely). Today I'll be spending my lunch break calling parts shops around town in the hope that someone will have an honest heart. |

Any news yet? Sucks when people find it much easier to take what others cherish and work so hard for |

I hope that it isn't long before its recovered. And not trashed. My '67 is the only car that gets to be in the garage. The new cars are all outside. _________________ 1967 sedan 11x17 color wiring diagram completely redone available |

I also had a '67 stolen; it was about 1982, and there was no recovery. It still pisses me off. I have no solutions but you have my well wishes and sympathy. |

I feel your pain. My 67 was stolen back in the 90's and i would never have gotten it back had the coil not gone bad in it. Hope yours turns up a few miles away like mine.

Wow, you are sooo lucky! Congrats on the save
And again, that car started life as a Standard, or 1200A Sparkafer sold only in Europe. Very cool, and indeed much more rare than the average US Deluxe
Someone along the line has changed a few things, mainly the front fenders and bumpers.
Here are a few pic's to give you an idea of how it looked before modifications...
