|
|
Have a 1978 bug. Trying to find winter tires. Limited knowledge on what i'm looking for. my wheels read:
1 over 72
4 1/2 1 x 15 ET34
1511
My current summer tires are 155 SR 15 with wheels reading:
4 1/2 1 x 15
127 3KE
ET34
Both sets have the VW on them, but I have no idea what i should be shopping for. ANY HELP. |

I'd would get winter snow tires the same size as your summer tires. As wheels appear to be the same. If you can find a slightly narrower winter tire, go with that, otherwise the same size for winter should do just fine. |

seeing as it is nearly impossible to find true winter tires in the 155-165 r15 range I would say your best bet would be something in the 185-195 60r-70r range use a tire calculator to try to find a size close to the same height and then go by what ever size is easiest to find locally or cheaply. _________________ ____________

Better off in the snow/rain to have skinnier tires. I would buy any cheap 165 marked M&S or Vredestein/Coker M&S. _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

I would think with the OP in Germany, there should be some sort of tire supplier in one of the countries to the north that would have a tire to fit. |

Searching on the Tire Rack website, I was able to find several all-season M&S-rated tires in 155/80R15 and 165/80R15, but no dedicated winter tires. The closest in size and rolling diameter I could find for dedicated snow/winter tires were 175/65R15 and 185/65R15, both of which should fit on 15 x 4.5" rims. They are pretty comparable in diameter to your 155R15 (24.8") at 24" for 175/65R15 and 24.5" for 185/65R15. _________________ 1966 Karmann-Ghia convertible |
