does your bus have upper rear vents?
I have owned four '58 walkthroughs over the years, and researched them extensively.
your bus is fairly early for a '58 walkthrough. of the '58s, the majority are panels, although there are a handfull of kombis and a few standards and a deluxe. I have seen at least three dozen panels. (there are three pre '58 model year walkthroughs known to exist. one panel and two kombis)
'58s have smooth vertical seat back walls that are reinforced by a welded on hat channel, unlike the pressed panels of the later production walkthroughs. the seats are slightly different than later seats with a wider bottom mounting bar and correspondingly placed mounts on the body.
the choke, fuel reserve and heater control is in front of the walkthrough channel, rather than on the pedestal like later walkthroughs. there is a metal plate that covers the tops of them so you don't step on them while walking through.
the spare tire mount is welded straight to the body, and it often breaks loose. later ones have an additional reinforcement plate, and less failure.
on the earliest walkthroughs, the spare tire nut is welded from a lugnut and a thick countersunk washer.

Lind,
Any differences between a 57 and 58 walkthrough pedistal/seats?
thanks for posting the pic of the earlier welded spare tire nut; very cool.
Interesting they did not use a solid-center lug nut. _________________ WANTED:

I have only heard of a few early '58 walkthroughs that were built in late 1957, and I have not observed any differences. there are transitional '59 walkthroughs that have smooth partition backs and the controls relocated to the pedestal. I have only ever seen one of those.

That has a 59+ decklid, my guess is the bumpers are not original to the bus. _________________ EMPI Power Rules! |

the late style decklid was introduced in the spring of 1958. there are plenty of '58 pressed bumper buses with late style decklids from the factory.
there were no swivel seat pressed bumper buses ever made at the factory. that is up to kustomizers _________________ .
