I took a walk of 3 junkyards around Baltimore today. All three formerly Crazy Ray's locations (now LKQ pick-a-part owned but still crazy ray's). Here's what I found.
8125 Washington Blvd., Jessup
71 super, picked over pretty hard. Beaten up roof, the doors actually looked decent but no vent windows. It's an auto trans and the trans looks like it's still there. I think the pedal cluster and the shifter were gone.
6201 Erdman Ave., Baltimore
There is a nice 77 standard here. The fenders are all banged up. The decklid is destroyed, hood is decent and the glass looked mostly good. Both doors looked pretty good with the exception of a dent on the inside of the driver door. It's a sunroof bug but I didn't mess with the mechanism so condition of cables and mechanics are unknown. I took the trans myself bit left the half-shafts and CVs in the car, they looked pretty good. Steering wheel looked good and pedal cluster.
I decided to take a shot on the trans. it's a single side cover 388 trans. I turned it by hand and it felt smooth, and drained the gear oil and there were no chunks. Wish me luck I'm hoping it was worth it.
2801 Hawkins Point Rd., Baltimore (410) 354-4800
No aircooled VW'a that I could find! |
