Building a 1970 Westie and thinking about refrigeration. Is there a modern solution for this component in a camper. Would like it to fit into the original spot, be efficient, and use both 110 and 12 volt. Seem like after 45 years there should be a better way of keeping things cold.

I did this over the summer. It's not finished 100% in these pics but you get the idea. It was a pretty simple project overall. I removed the sink (since it mas missing) and just built in a storage box instead. These are the only pics I have currently.

And this is the fridge that I used. It fit perfectly width wise.

I believe the Engel SR48F will fit in the '74-'75 Westy fridge cabinet (the only one for which I know the dimensions), but it's costy at $720 for rather small space. I use my '75's icebox for storage and then carry an Engel MT35 when we need a fridge.

I have vents installed into the side of the cabinet, not completely seen in the pictures. But I can certainly keep everyone updated as to how it performs.
