Horn help

[56Cabrio]

Took the steering column out to paint it, so while it was out might as well fix the horn. I ran a wire through the shaft out the hole near the copper band. Now the problem, there is not even a glimpse of the old wire there to solder to. Does anybody know the best way to attach the new wire to the copper band ? It's so tight between the copper and cardboard material I can't slip the wire between them. I don't want to mess the cardboard insulator up. Any ideas ?

I believe the original wire was crimped between the copper ring and the paper insulator. Here is another discussion which fits your situation.
