Hello all, I have a 65 vw with an aftermarket ignition, is it possible to cut a vw key, with the logo, to use in my aftermarket ignition? Or should I just find vw ignition with keys to save the hassle?

I've looked at most key codes and the SU key definitely does not look like my ignition key now.

I have a 65 1200 "A" sedan and it uses the steering wheel lock/ignition switch and the key you have is the type used. My keys are original , but the original keys have the VW logo stamped on them. You have a replacement key.
click on the link for a picture of my ignition sw.:

Column lock keys are not the same as the repro ignition key in the pics above.

Mine is, and it has the VW logo. I know nothing is amiss, I've owned the car for forty six years and I knew the original owner.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with your car, I'm saying the repro ignition locks use their own unique key. It may appear to look similar, but it doesn't interchange.

I am lucky to be able to source a key, thank goodness for the Samba.
