I replaced my original low back seats with Beetle high backs, circa 1971, that fit on the rails in my Thing.
As I have a harness, for driving off-road, the Beetle high back is sort of awkward, and these seats from Moore parts look good. They also come in wide sizes for us slimly challenged folks.
Can the be made to fit of the Thing rails?
BTW they are the same as Cecil's Disney type 184.

I'm sure you could somehow make them fit on the Thing rails. I bought these sliders from Moore parts when I put PRP seats in my 73:
The sliders fit virtually any aftermarket race seat. They were super easy to install and they fit over the stock rails so you could go back to a stock seat in the future. My thought is to keep it simple; you don't need to make them fit on the Thing rails.
Edit: Also make sure you will have enough room to fit in two of the wide buckets. They are WIDE. |

Thanks, maybe I will have a wide seat for me and a regular for my skinny passengers.
BTW a Thing is 4" wider that a beetle so I think they will fit , as in wide. _________________ 63 singlecab

Sam, here is a picture of my seats (standard width PRP seats) side by side.
You can see there is plenty of room between them due in part to me setting the bases a little outboard from the stock location (again over the stock tracks). Both the standard width and WIDE versions of these seats use the same sliders. The sliders will fit on Beard, PRP, Mastercraft, so you are not limited to the Moore seats. I think the wide seats will fit, but it might be cozy.
Edit: Here are the dimensions of a standard high back PRP seat:

31″ Tall X 22″ Wide X 26″ Deep |
The PRP wide seat is 2" wider than the standard.

Heck, you could fit the HumVee seats I have for sale in that space! _________________ L'audace! L'audace! Toujours l'audace! |
