Hi. Can anyone tell me if the front and rear seats from an oval will fit into a 63 bug without any modification? |

There are basically only 4 styles of seat rails (not including the standard type that utilize wing nuts to hold down the seat)
1950-55 are straight and have 2 tabs for adjustment
1956-70 "L" style
1971/72 "T" style
1973-79 Tripod style

Up to 1970 uses one style seat rail, 1971 & 1972 use another style and the seats wont interchange.
1973 then got the tri-pod set up for safety and completely different seats.

56 and up front should fit. The rear will fit but i believe the rear seat back will lean back too far or it may be the other way around. |

I think fronts are compatible from '53? to '70? |
After recently getting my 67 bug up and running I’m not sure I want to stay with the aftermarket seats I installed. With the car lowered and with the 18”wheels I don’t think it will make for a very comfortable long distance cruiser. These seats have very little cushioning which means I feel every little bump thru the seat of the pants.
So now I’m thinking about installing the Empi or Bugpack lowback reclining seats to be reupholstered in the matching VW Gti material or stock lowbacks and get the seat covers from SewFine with my material. My question is if I go with stock what yr? up to 67 will be a direct bolt-on to my factory sliders.
Thanks |
