Will the 356 flywheels from AA work for my 36hp build using the WW 69.5mm crankshaft? I see they are SPG 8 dowel pattern, and have a 6V ring gear. I am wondering if the AA 356 flywheel puts the ring gear and clutch in the right spots for the beetle split-case transmission. --depth the same as stock 36hp?
See them here: (Part#: 008 180FW and Part#: 008 200FVW)

Any experience thoughts on this combo is appreciated.

Nope, nothing so far. -thanks for bumping it. I PM'd splitpile with my Q's as the poster above suggested and only got a quick note back saying where I could order from. Busy guy I'm sure so I didn't bug him on it further.
I have only heard from a local guy-that-knows-guy that did it and he had to open up the gland nut hole on the flywheel and shorten the 36hp glandnut a little to make it fit(?) -but I haven't confirmed this.

I Bought both a 6 and 12 vlt AA flywheel I've not been able to get the 12vlt to work as it binds on the case. So I installed the 6 vlt on my 356 crank in my 36 hp engine. It worked perfect . I've used it in 2- 6 vlt vw's and have not had a problem.

Thanks AirCooledClassics for the input, I'm assuming the binding you had was due to the larger ring gear of the 12 volt flywheel and the smaller bellhousing opening of the 6V trans.(?)

Still waiting to hear if the AA 356 flywheels fit / work with the Wolfsburg West 69.5mm crank-- anyone?

No the interference is on the seal side of the flywheel. I will try to clearance the case if not the flywheel will need a cut on a lathe .I was not impressed.

Even though my application was different I feel the AA flywheel 6 vlt. Will work perfect for you.
