It's a dual barrel Zenith 32 NDIX Carburetor. I think they're from Porches. I have one on my baja bug and it really packs a punch!

Someone custom made a manifold for my carburetor which is significantly taller and forced me to run an S curved guide tube through the fan shroud to aline the throttle cable correctly. It looks like your manifold is shorter which is nice. Also, as you probably already saw, it's a manual choke. You should have no problems getting parts for it.

So my blinkers are acting up so i started playing with the bulbs thinking that maybe the bulbs were loose or there was a short in the cables, come to find the relay being bad about a hour of tinkering, so go up to the local advance auto and cross it to what they have in stock and plug it in. also got oil, gasket, and spark plugs, 10w-50 and i presume it takes 3-4 quarts and don't know the plug gap yet. I get home and plug in the relay and the blinkers work great, i start seeing smoke and shut the electrical off. Turn to find out the fuse blew and i guess i wired the light back wrong ??? I don't know, so no more brake lights for me .... don't know anyone who sells the fuses local. The kicker is my blinkers work fine still but now my tail lights don't work so no stoping for me only turns... first screw up on the bug

PostPosted: Wed Oct 29, 2014 7:00 pm    Post subject: patch pan under battery Reply with quote

SO to find out it looks like some one welded in a pan for the battery at one time so it wouldn't fall threw the floor Anxious Anxious . So tuesday i got my package of seals and misc parts along with the floor pan from Jbug, very nice quality and ships fast! so time to cut and FABRICATE!!! Very Happy best part about rusty and old vws!! the beetle looks like childs play vs the bus. so here is my progress.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

2 10mm bolds and a screw to remove the y pipe(which you need jacks or a lift to do, and move everything out of da way.

Most of the rust is centered around the tray and creeping towards the heater channel and the low spots of the floor boards and rockers, surprisingly the drivers side is solid.

step 2: when theres rust cut it out!! rust is cancer for VWs

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I cut enough to fit whole half panel in and some to over lap under the passenger seat for support, even not welded the panel is solid.

i will update with pictures of it fitted and what i did to fit it. sorry phone died. also have some POR 15 on the way, Ive been wanting to try it out for a while.

Been sanding and fiberglassing the holes. Hopefully making a dent in my work. Hope to get to paint soon!!! Can't stand not driving her. Kinda just making my own steps as I go along and body work sucks.

The roof is sanded and painted and working on the driver door dent.
