Before I mess up my old molding by doing something I should not, anyone find a tried and true way to refinish the old German dash molding? The repop stuff just doesn't cut it. Blue Bug Thanks...

Mine are aluminum, I used steel wool 0000 from HD,
then I polished them with mother's wheel polish,
they look great. My 2c Smile

The aluminum trim is likely bright anodized, to give it a nice shine and keep it from corroding . however if the anodized surface is scratched, you can re-polish the surface, however the anodizing will be gone, so it may not stay as nice for as long with out re-polishing. of course parts can be re-anodized.

Yes ...you can remove the existing deteriorated anodizing with ...get this: Drano drain cleaner. see this link: http://www.secondchancegarage.com/public/665.cfm then clean and polish with fine-fine steel wool, and clear coat spray. Good as new.

Thanks sir, then I concur completely with the other doctors regarding steel wool and buffing.
