Sorry for another distributor question but I cant find my problem in other posts. Ive got a 71 maybe 72 case believed to be a stock 1600 in my 69 bug with dual kadron 40's on it with a 009 dist with points. Ive been trying to get ride of a under normal acceleration hesitation for a while. If I run it hard it seems to be fine. Any way today i pulled the plugs and they are burning fine. Points are spot on, valves are good so on and so on. Ive done the reading on the 009 and today i got the timing light out and checked it. it was at 6/7 btdc at idle and about 22 atdc at 3000 rpm. I fallowed Rob and Dave's advice and set it to 32 atdc at 3000 rmp. runs AWESOME hesitation is gone no pinging, great. My concern is it idles at 8 atdc. Everything i read says it falls to a btdc range between 5 or 10 sometimes 16. Mine does not. I get that the 3000 rmp setting is the important one but it still doesnt seem right that it idles atdc. Is it a issue? Id hate to burn it up. Thanks ahead for any help |

Adjusted timing at full advance and it falls at 28 btdc and 12 idle. OK? |

28-12=16*.
A 009 should have 22*.

Then drive it..
28* total will not hurt the engine. But your performance might suffer. _________________ Glenn
