|
|
I bought a Vintage Speed sump plate a while back for my engine.
I tried to install it, but it seems to require longer studs.
Is there a way to remove and replace the stud that holds the pick up tube in place without splitting the case? There's a nut on top that I can't reach.
The other 5 studs should be easy to remove. _________________ 1957 Vintage Baja Bug.

One has to ask ...
What could possibly be enough better about a sump plate that would make you consider changing the studs to use it? |

It's machined perfectly flat on the gasket surface and should be less prone to leaking. _________________ 1957 Vintage Baja Bug.

It doesn't look machined, it looks like the holes were stamped, and someone took a sander to knock off the high spots... _________________ foam cowboy hats aren't good helmets. |

Your looking at the bottom. The other side has been machined flat. _________________ 1957 Vintage Baja Bug.

Yikes! I'll just stick with the stock sump plate for now. Too much work to replace that stud. _________________ 1957 Vintage Baja Bug.

Buy a cheap 10mm wrench that you can bend using a torch.
I did that decades ago and have used it many times over the years. |
