I bought a Vintage Speed sump plate a while back for my engine.

I tried to install it, but it seems to require longer studs.

Is there a way to remove and replace the stud that holds the pick up tube in place without splitting the case? There's a nut on top that I can't reach.

The other 5 studs should be easy to remove.

One has to ask ...

What could possibly be enough better about a sump plate that would make you consider changing the studs to use it?

It's machined perfectly flat on the gasket surface and should be less prone to leaking.

It doesn't look machined, it looks like the holes were stamped, and someone took a sander to knock off the high spots...

Your looking at the bottom. The other side has been machined flat.

I'm more intrigued as to why there's a wrench and a brake reservoir in the picture Smile

Yikes! I'll just stick with the stock sump plate for now. Too much work to replace that stud.

Idea Buy a cheap 10mm wrench that you can bend using a torch.

I did that decades ago and have used it many times over the years.
