|
|
Just recently purchased a new Magna Spark distributor from CB Preformance. Included in the box is the "Advance Kit"; a small zip lock bag containing additional springs, bushings, the O-ring for the end of the distributor shaft and three ultra thin washers or, perhaps, spacers. Can anyone inform me as to the purpose of these three washes/spacers? Thanks. |

The kit comes with very detailed instructions.
The stronger (they word it as heavier) springs reduce the rate of advance.
The larger spacers limit the total advance.
I have the medium rate in mine, and set the advance limits to provide 10 degrees idle and 30 total for my low compression (9.5:1) 2275 engine.
You can't just go off their chart for total advance bushings/spacers vs actual advance. They don't jive. It takes guess and check methods and a good timing light/degree pulley. |

Thanks for the replies. I understand how to set up a desired advance with the provided springs and bushing. My apologies if I didn't make myself clear. I've included an image of the contents of the "Advance kit" I received with the distributor.
My question is "What are the three thin washer/spacers in the lower right of the image for?". Thanks again. |

Again, thanks to all for the replies. Any suggestions on the starting point for setting the end play? Thank you. |

I have read .010" on here but I cant find the post. Its strange that there is no spec for that in the Bentley manual. _________________ 71 Super - Backroad Thrasher
