Hello...I had come back from the shop earlier in the day where the headliner & glass is being installed on my '74 Super, and they are telling me I am missing a weatherstrip or some kind of molding that goes over this edge from the top of the sunroof hole:

This I believe is the edge where the headliner material wraps around; is the headliner material held on by anything other than glue & any other sunroof parts that attach in this area? I had just dropped off this part with the 5 clips & thin metal rod:

so they can attach the headliner material to this part, which attaches to the underside of the exterior sunroof panel. I didn't think there was a molding/weatherstrip there, but I could be wrong. Your help & advice is appreciated! Thanks!

Yeah, theres a sort of pinch weld that goes there, i'll try to find a picture of my old 73 and post it.
in the meantime look at this manual. early watercooled roofs are very similar to late supers

See if you can see it in this picture, its the crusty looking/white stuff around
the bottom side of the opening

It was said a few years ago that the VW dealer could get it. Was listed as a Jetta or rabbit part.

OK I did find the 'official' name for this part; it's called "beading, sunroof frame" & the VW part # is 321 877 227 A 581(the last 3 numbers are for the color; white). And here are 2 photos I pulled from the interwebs that show the exact part I need:

Good job, Dude!

I didn't pursue my sunroof parts search any further, sorry to say. I ended up selling that car (traded it actually, for a pickup truck).

Miss that damn sunroof though....
