Thing body & type 3 pan

So I have this crusty 74 thing body but no pan and I have a striped down 71 type 3 with a fairly good pan under it.
Has anyone tried fitting a thing body on a type 3 pan?

The pan halves look to be the same shape but that's where the similarities seem to end totally different front beam and I know id have to support the engine and trans some way, as the type 3 engine is supported by the body not the pan.
