Anyone ever worked with Midwest Auto Savers in Cary, IL? I am working on a possible deal with these guys to exchange cars and get a solid Super Beetle out of a combination of a bunch of mixed parts. I was hoping to get some general feedback on the quality of work and overall skill level of the shop?

I stopped by there the other day as I live in the next town over, and ended up buying a hood from them for my 71 super.

While I can't comment on the quality of their work, they do have a big clean shop and it looked like a reputable place (in other words it isn't a dude working out of a garage).

Not much help, I know…..

Actually that does help. I have seen a lot of places claiming to be restoration shops that didn't have the space or cleanliness to build a pedal cart. Being from Mass I realm like what Darby over there is coming up with for ways to work with me on a solid daily driver with future restoration potential, but tough to judge from out of state.

He knows what he's doing. If you take you car there, you'll be fine.

I used to work with Darby a long time ago side by side with him at Trac Auto Parts in Mount Prospect Illinois. If you have a VW that needs repair or anything you need to know Darby is definitely your go to guy for anything and everything VW. In other words he is literally a walking living Volkswagen encyclopedia. He is also as honest as the day is long and will always work very hard to make sure you are happy. You can't pick a better person then Darby Milnor for any of your Volkswagen needs. You can have full confidence working with Darby.
