What are these holes in the deck lid for? Was this for a rack of some sort? This is a 64' btw.

Looks like the PO was screwing signs to the back of the car, and swapping them out every other week. |

Those racks they make for deck lids don't take that many holes right? How hard is that to get fixed? I'd have to paint the entire car right? Cause it's all old and oxidized. |

Deck lid racks require zero holes drilled! You'd have one hell of a heavy lid if you asked it support luggage. Given the relative symmetry of the holes- Id bet the PO experimented with a variety of ghetto spoilers.
Yes it would need to be repainted if you fill the holes. To be frank, just having to ask if it would require paint tells me you may not be the right candidate for the bodywork on that lid. I'd look for a replacement and get a can of paint matched to the repaint color of the car. Buff out part of that thing and take it down to your local auto body supply store for a match. _________________

Although the underside of the engine lid does not appear to have any remnants of metal creases, my guess is that the holes were for a dent puller to pull out shallow dents rather than using hammer+dolly. Body filler was pressed into the holes for better retention when the dents were filled. But... the outside surface of the lid also shows many of the holes, which should actually be hidden by the body filler and paint. So maybe NO bodywork was attempted after all, and the above-posted explanations could work. |

To me, it looks symmetrical. Perhaps an after market spoiler was added.
But, for giggles, you could say that's here your Mr. Fusion god, or the windup key goes.

That might be where the previous owner was trying to learn how to do body body repair . . . did not want the Bondo too thick, so he used a slide-hammer dent puller!
Now it can finished up with an inch-thick skim-coat of filler and it will be as good as new!!!!!!! _________________ Jesucristo es mi Seņor y Salvador! |

You would use an old dent puller when you can't gain access to the back of the panel... Clearly on a deck lid you can get to a large part of the panel.
I think someone may of had an old whale tail spoiler on it...80s flavor. |

might be worth finding another deck lid. That would take a million years to weld up, get straight and finish. _________________ 1965 Herbie Replica. 1776cc dual Kads.
