I am converting the 79 SB I have to carbs for a high performance motor. Can anyone walk me through how to remove the fuel pump, the front electric one, and which fuse and wiring I should remove so I don't have extra wires hanging?

Why do you want to remove it? Use it and block off the stock pump on the case.

He would need a regulator to drop the pressure.

Electric fuel pump is not stock. So the PO (previous owner) wired it using whatever wire he had hanging around the garage so we don't know what color to look for. He wired it so something hot, probably, but not necessarily to the fuse box. It is probably, but no necessarily the same color as the wire to the fuel pump. And if he were smarter than the average PO he would also run a wire back to the Coil to add a fuel shutoff solenoid.

If he did run a wire to the coil, and even better if he ran it in the wiring harness leave that wire there. If you ever decide to add a tach or a temperature sensor you will already have a wire.

Refresh my memory, how much pressure does the stock electronic pump put out?

It would have been stock for a '79

Idea 28lbs seems to ring a bell compared to 2-3 for Dual carbs.

Injectors need a lot of pressure along with the excess gas returning back into the tank.

I think you are right, the OP could always remove it and install a Rotary pump in the same place.

Thanks for the responses. I have a brand new motor coming next week which is a 1914cc dual carb setup with a case mounted fuel pump so I need to eliminate the electric one for all of the reasons mentioned above. My thoughts were to leave the wire in place and just remove the fuse in case someone ever wants to put it back to stock, but I'm not able to identify the fuse and wiring clearly from the various Clymer's and other manuals I have been reading.

Silly thing is according to the wiring diagram the fuel pump isnt even on a fused circuit.
maybe put an inline one on the wire where it leaves the relay
