I found this photo and had a couple of questions ;

What purpose is the silver ductwork on the sides of the engine ?
what is the advantage ?
The outlets on my type3 engine is capped off , see black cap below ; will that hurt the engine ?

Where should the small outlet off the air vent go to if I have the same carbs and air vent as above ....

If you have heater boxes then yes you should have the silver air hose or your exhaust will get very hot in the heater boxes and will melt down over time. If you have J tubes then you will be fine to have them capped off but you will want to make a heat shield to shield the heads from the heat off of the exhaust. The oil vent will go to the air cleaner on the right via a hose but if there is no elbow to connect to then run the hose down to the ground.
