Hello Everyone greetings from Bolivia Smile ,

I have a VW GOL BX Aircooled from 1980, The engine is a 1600cc standard with a small Solex H30 carburator. Currently my engine has some problems and I want to rebuild the engine with some improvements, I would like to :

- Mainly improve the acceleration.
- Improve the max speed.
- Improve the cooling system.
- Reduce the noise in the engine.

I replaced my old distributor with a Hot-Spark SVDA 034 and also i added an oil breather. I have some relatives in Florida that could bring some parts for me and i want your help with some tips and advices about what to buy because here in Bolivia there are only standard parts. My relatives could not bring something big but at least something like a new carburator or a camshaft.

Some pictures of my car :

I think the GOL fan shroud is less effective at cooling than a standard Beetle shroud... so you might have to improve the cooling before you increase the power output?

How much vertical space do you have to work with in the engine compartment?

From the top of the carburator to the hood there is like 4 cm, so that is one of my concerns , I wanted a progressive weber 32 36 but that is not going to fit well unless I modify my car hood.

I wonder if a Type 3 cooling system would fit? Question
