Feel free to post up any nice Fall color touring photos you took of your Ghia this year (2014).

I'll start:

My '70 Ghia Coupe had been penned-up in the back of my garage by an immobile '59 Double-Cab project for over a year and a half, and had only been started an a couple of occasions inside the garage. I finally have the Double-Cab mobile again, and the day was beautiful and the Fall colors were approaching their peak, so I pushed the DC out of the garage and jump-started the Ghia to take it on a drive. After a quick wipe-down, I threw a bag of tools into the car just in case, checked that the fire-extinguisher was properly charged and ready to go. My wife Kathryn jumped in and away we went. I had a half tank of "old" premium gas so I immediately stopped to fill the tank with fresh premium fuel for the trip. We live on the outskirts of St. Louis, MO, so I took off on a back-roads trip through as much rural countryside as possible. We crossed the Mississippi River into Alton, IL, turned north and then cruised the 1776 powered Ghia up the scenic Great River Road to Pere Marquette State park to check all the Fall colors along the way.

It was a lot of fun to get the Ghia out on the road again after her long forced hibernation, and she ran very nicely!

On the way back home we took a route that gave us two different ferry rides across both the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers and back to our home. A very nice and thankfully uneventful Tour!

Okay, who is next with 2014 Fall Color photos?

Sorry, couldn't resist. Laughing
Autumn in the desert isn't quite what I used to get back in Upstate NY. Still, can't beat the dry air for lack of rust![/img]

Here my effort Bill. Nice day today, rain tomorrow so I cleaned it and ran it up the road. The trees are still not in full autumnal colours but the roadside ferns have all turned a golden brown. Smile

That's not a road, that's a trail! You could barely squeeze a Vespa by your stunningly beautiful Ghia!!! Nice shot John!

It's a country lane really Bill...when you drive them you just hope nobody's coming the other way on their Vespa. Wink

I don't doubt that. Historically these narrow country lanes were originally ancient cart tracks. This particular curved lane was a main route but 250 years ago a straight piece of road was built to carry heavier traffic and this lane was never widened. These next two pictures were taken on the same narrow lane...

Well you live in the "New World" and I live in the "Old World" but although this is nothing really unusual we don't all live in places like this. Most modern housing areas don't look very different from modern US housing areas...we just have a housing stock that goes back a few hundred years more than the "New World". That means when we're looking for an attractive backdrop for our Ghia pictures we don't have very far to go. Those pictures are all within two miles from where I live. Wink

BTW "thruhiker74"...go and take a picture outside Mission San Xavier del Bac when you have some time...I love that place.

Ha, thanks John, now it won't look like I thought of going there myself! Laughing
Been meaning to get down there since the day I got my Coupe. It's only about 5km from my house. I'll get there soon and even bring my real camera to get some shots for you.

Thanks, I'd like that...a long time since I've been there...1993 IIRC. Wink

I placed a picture of my Ghia on the Sticky " Post your Ghia" a few weeks back but I thought that I would add it again to my post. The Ghia is parked outside a small chapel near to my house in France. Picture taken summer 2014....not quite autumn though

It may be officially Fall, but in Arizona mother nature is still holding on to summer. It was a high of 91 degrees when I snapped this photo on my drive to the lake today.

It's been too rainy to do much touring lately so my driveway tree is about it for colors at the moment.

Beautiful photo's one and all!
I plan to do a last drive for the season on Sunday. We have plenty of leaves on the ground around here. Maybe I can coax the wife to snap a couple of pics.
