Why not take the free wagoneer and have a beetle you work on with him and take out on the weekends. IT will make it more special and you can tell all the girls that you just drive the wagoneer because you don't want the plebs to dent your beautiful VW, then tell her she should come over and see it sometime and you'll give her a ride, then you can go out in the car too.

Work the situation you have, not the one you wish for. Besides if a chick is worried about what car you drive in high school she's just a fuck anyways, and you can make that happen without her ever seeing the car.

Ahh, to be young again! Many great points have been made about safety and the maintainence aspects. Safety gets a negative infinity and maintance for the daily driver is about the same. I drove my 68 for about 8 months before I broke down and bought another truck to work with. The bug is great but as a daily (even with my motorcycle) it did take a full day or more sometimes worth of maintance to keep it running properly. There was almost something too do on a bi-daily basis to work on any acvw.

Take what you got and play later Smile

I totaled my first car two weeks after I bought it . Ice and curves don't mix .
Really glad I wasn't in a bug .
Drive the Jeep and buy a toy later .

The other driver had borrowed his mother -in - laws car to get to a meeting !!!! Shocked
I destroyed that car too!!

Dumb luck nobody got hurt ......

Dear Dad

Buy this kid a Beetle now because

He has already shown the judgement to go out and solicit real opinions and not just read Wikipedia

He will learn more engineering, materials, systems, and skill keeping his VW on the road while his friends will learn to speed dial AAA

He has found the ultimate VW car forum, SAMBA, which will keep him straight and true.

However, don't Cal look it unless your last name is Ripken. If you do, we will remotely blow your transmission.
